My name is Taylor Bradford and I reached out to Mercy pyshio asking about your classes preparing you for labour and pregnancy, over the phone the lady was lovely and prompt assuring me it was necessary and helpful to have the one on one session with a pyshiotherapsit at the full cost of $125.00 as being 36 weeks pregnant at the time I was looking for somewhere to educate myself and my birthing partner on how to safely and easily guide through the labour process. on the 27th of may 2017 at 10am was the official date organised. Both me and my Birthing partner travelled 50 minutes south just to attend, being told over the phone to wear comfy clothes as we will be shown various things and postions, massages and coping meconisums for my big day. I must add the customer service was fine, nothing tragic and nothing extraordinary. On arrival 10 minutes early in comfy gym outfits as been told to wear, I filled out some forms just saying that I was pregnant and where I was living (nothing very relevant) and was told HBF would rebate more than half of the $125.00 which was incorrect I received a refund of $27.00 ( mis-information is a big no no) We then were called in by a lovely lady who was just doing her job as she ovbiously has been told by the owners of the pyshio. So we greeted and we sat down thinking she was just going to debrief us on a few simple things before getting into demonstrations on the fitness ball, on positioning and on massaging etc. little did we know what actually was to come was a full hour of reading off of pieces of paper that I could have easily googled and printed off myself.. which I was then given to take home and read myself? Rather pointless.. something you could easily give out for free for mothers to read when they wish.. also something you could give in a package of gifts for new mums after a full hour of demonstrations and one-on-one hands on experience. Not as the full $125.00 class. Anyhow we had sat in stiff chairs for the hour been read all of this stuff that was just print offs, shown 1 breathing technique and 1 massage technique which to be quite honest was something I was taught for free to then have the receptionist starting knocking on the door every 2 minutes stating the next customer was here and was in a rush to get started, well I had just paid $125.00 I was here first and I think the lady can wait till we are finished.. but no the receptionist continued knocking and rushing us along. So not only was this already disappointing I tried to in-take as much as I could because I'm so eager to learn about labour, I was now being rushed and stressed through the last

My husband and I also opted to attend the preparation for childbirth class through the physio rather than the hospital as it was a smaller group and more personalised - ran by the same womens health physio that ran my prenatal aqua classes - bonus.

10 minutes of my session. We finished up and had the other customer acting like we weren't entitled to our last 10 minutes and being fussy and quite honestly rude. We paid our money and was yet again told by the receptionist that we would recieve a great refund, almost all of the money as she had dealt with HBF many times (she stated) . We left under whelmed but also upset, I felt like my money had just been thrown down the drain and really I could have stayed home and just googled this all. Side note also.. to use the rest rooms I had to walk through a highly cloronated pool area that had no open windows, a tiny walk way and was packed with young kids splashing around and making puddles of water at 36 weeks pregnant this was a MASSIVE hazard no matter what tiles you have laid. So after a poor experience in a dark, dingy and over heated room in uncomfortable chairs, bad toilet facilities and quite a poorly written out class I think $125.00 is a shamble and scam for money and it shouldn't be more than $12.00. I will never return and never recommend to my vast group of pregnant friends and family.

I have seen the physios for back pain during my second pregnancy and look forward to being treated by their lovely staff up on the ward once the next baby is born. I just wish I had the time to attend the prenatal aqua this time around!

They treated my sciatic nerve during my first pregnancy. I also attended the prenatal physio aqua classes, which are run by a womens health physio - the conversations in the pool with both the instructor and other ladies in the water were a wealth of information just as great as the actual exercises undertaken.
